The Hammam ritual - the ally of beauty at Sky Wellness and Spa
The Hammam ritual, ally of beauty at Sky Wellness & Spa

Tradition, history and your moment of relaxation. Hammam-The bath, also known as the Turkish bath/wet sauna, is an oriental ritual inspired by Greek or Roman baths. During the Ottoman Empire, in addition to its many health and beauty benefits, the Hammam provided an ideal setting for combining the useful with the pleasurable: surrounded by steam and secrets, both men and women oscillated between moments of rest and discussions that facilitated future friendships, as well as political and economic alliances. Gradually, the Hammam became the keeper of mysteries and the treasurer of enigmas.

The Sky Wellness & SpaIn a modern and refined setting, you step into an oasis of tranquility. Worries are abandoned, fears dismissed or forgotten, and stress gradually fades away, eliminated from the body with each step that completes the traditional Turkish ritual.

The most important step is cleansing the skin with black soap (Beldi) from Morocco (highly moisturizing and made from black olive pits and eucalyptus oil). Impurities and toxins are removed. After a relaxing steam bath, the pores are dilated and the soap is gently massaged in. The skin absorbs the lather, then becomes velvety soft and smooth.

This is followed by exfoliation with a special Kassa glove to remove dead skin cells. Exfoliation is done on slightly damp skin, preparing the body for an additional moisturizing session with special products recommended by Sky Wellness & Spa therapists.

For a complete ritual and a unique experience, we recommend an extra indulgence: the Kneipp baths, two hot and two cold pools. Your feet are placed in the hot bath for two minutes and in the cold bath for one minute maximum. Finally, after repeating the process ten times, the feet are wrapped in a traditional Turkish towel.

Benefits of the Hammam ritual:

  • relieves stress;
  • cleanses and tones the skin;
  • detoxifies the body;
  • strengthens the immune system;
  • improves respiratory system functions (recommended for people with asthma or chronic bronchitis);
  • dilates blood vessels;
  • promotes sleep and rest;
  • helps lower cholesterol;
  • regulates blood pressure;
  • relieves muscle and joint pain;
  • helps eliminate water from the body;
  • recommended for people with rheumatism or psoriasis.

Although both are based on steam therapy, the Hammam should not be confused with the sauna. The oriental ritual takes place at a much lower temperature (40°C as opposed to 100°C, as in a dry sauna) and the humidity can reach up to 100%.

For your soul, mind and body, we are waiting for you at Sky Wellness & Spa, where the Hammam ritual is the ally of beauty and health!

Duration of the Hammam Ritual: 40 minutes.
